Who we are
Truth Church of Calgary has grown and matured steadily since it was established in 1967 by the founders, Pastor Raymond and Rebecca Sirstad. In 1977 Pastor Johnny and Judy King began a leadership that lasted the next 43 years. During this time the church outgrew two facilities and arrived at the current location in Northwest Calgary. In November 2020 Johnny King transitioned to the role of bishop and Pastor Douglas and Maleah Walker arrived to lead the church into the next phase of growth and revival.
Truth Church is a thriving multi-cultural congregation with an average attendance of around 300. It is the vision of Truth Church to have members from every nation of the world in the local assembly. In addition to our location in Calgary, we also have church plants in various countries around the world.
This is only the beginning of our story. God continues to pour out his favor on our assembly, and new people are being added to the church on a regular basis. We look forward to what God has in store for our future and invite you to be a part of it.
What we believe
We believe that the Bible is God’s infallible, inspired Word (II Timothy 3:16)
We believe that there is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), that He was manifest in the flesh through Jesus Christ (I Timothy 3:16), and that His Spirit dwells in believers (Romans 8:11).
We believe that man is by nature fallen from God’s grace through sin (Romans 3:23, 5:12).
We believe that the grace of God has appeared unto all men to bring salvation (Ephesians 2:8, Titus 3:5).
We believe that salvation is available to all (II Peter 3:9) through faith and obedience to the gospel, namely, repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38, I Peter 3:21, Romans 8:10).
We believe that the believer is called to holiness and purity of lifestyle (II Corinthians 6:17-18, 7:1, Hebrews 12:14).
We believe that divine healing is still experienced through prayer and faith (James 5:14).
We believe that the gifts of the Spirit should be effective in the company of believers according to the teachings of Paul (I Corinthians 12-14).
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ to rapture His church (John 14:3, Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:16), and look for that blessed hope (Titus 2:13, Revelation 22:20).
We believe that all people will be judged according to the word of God (Romans 2:16, Hebrews 9:27), and rewarded according to their deeds with either everlasting life or eternal punishment (Romans 2:5-11, Revelation 21:7-8).
